SMARTSPEND Survey: an analysis of the energy industry’s funding needs
SMARTSPEND – an EU project that aims to find new ways to coordinate and increase investments in clean energy technology Research & Development; is to launch a survey to provide an outlook of the industry’s funding needs. ETIP SNET stakeholders are encouraged to take part!
To begin the process, different industry players are invited to complete a 10-minute questionnaire that focuses on their experiences and knowledge of different funding mechanisms/programmes/organisations such as: NER 300, InnovFin, ERANET, EIT-KIC, EUREKA, EASME, LIFE, JPI and InnoEnergy. It includes short multiple-choice and open questions regarding the needs and barriers each of the respondents has encountered when applying or receiving funding through these entities.

The results of the survey will feed into a report which will provide an outlook of the industry’s funding needs and will be shared with stakeholders to design better funding mechanisms/programmes/organisations.
About SMARTSPEND
Many energy technologies are trying to answer similar R&D questions. There may be ways to sequence research in different sectors to increase its impact. An important step towards this goal is to identify the industry’s funding needs.
SMARTSPEND aims to report on the synergies in different technologies’ R&D plans, and on the ways that sectors should organise themselves to access EU funding efficiently.
